Santa Fe is a town rich with artistic diversity. In order to preserve this tradition, however, the artists of today need to make a commitment to the artisans of the future. Funding for supplies, education and inviting visiting artists to appear in the schools, in addition to scholarships all aim to encourage the creators and thinkers of the next generation.
For many years the merchants and galleries along Canyon Road have played an active part in ensuring the future of the Santa Fe arts community, and 2012 is no different. Many of our galleries are already preparing for the Edible Art Tour, just one of the many events of this year’s ARTFeast, scheduled February 24th-26th.
This year’s Edible Art Tour is scheduled for the evening of Friday February 24th. More than 30 Canyon Road galleries are teamed with local chefs and restaurants to present a night that is a delight for the senses. Savor and stroll through the galleries as you get to taste some of the best dining that Santa Fe has to offer, all while enjoying the best in fine art. Special exhibitions and tantalizing themes combine to ensure a memorable evening.
Now in its 15th year, ARTFeast is the main fundraising event for ARTSmart, a local non-profit dedicated to helping the artists of tomorrow with the tools they need to learn and grow as artists. Their mission statement is: “ARTSmart ensures that Santa Fe and New Mexico youth have the opportunity to explore, experience and engage in the visual arts, a critical component of every student’s education.” To learn more about ARTSmart and ARTFeast please visit http://artfeast.com/.
